PRAYING FOR OTHERS PLEASES GOD

SCRIPTURE:

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

(Philippians 1:3–4)

DEVOTIONAL:

Praying for Others Pleases God

God delights in hearing your prayers for your own needs and for the needs of others.

Number Six:

Praying using prayer lists will help us to focus on specific people, things, and events that we desire God’s blessing and intervention on. Loved ones, schools, city, state and federal government officials by name, your church activity calendar, your meetings, projects, goals and dreams, daily tasks, current issues… the prayer list possibility is endless! Let God lead you on what needs prayer cover that day. As the list grows, designate items for each day of the week. (Philippians 1:3–4)

Number Seven:

Praying over prayer requests that others have submitted to you or to a local church or ministry will connect your heart with the needs of others. It is always good to go beyond our own needs and requests to God and include our loved ones, our church family, and our neighbors. Do not forget that addictions, abuse, violence, hatred, and anger are also unspoken cries for help. (2 Thessalonians 3:1, Mark 5:1–20)

PRAYER:

Dear God, thank you for the many times You’ve answered my prayers. Please help me to be concerned about the needs of others—those I know, and those I don’t know—and to hold them up in prayer before You. Right now, I pray for (say a prayer for someone you know needs prayer). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
